In November 2011  Signature Salon opened their newest salon and spa in Eldersburg just 20 minutes from their Ellicott City salon.  As of the opening of the Eldersburg salon, I relocated my eyelash extension service solely to the new salon.  The Eldersburg salon and spa is a perfect location for my service since the spa area is private.

I am very happy to be part of a spa and actually have enjoyed the facials, massage, nail and hair services offered.  The skincare line is excellent; Aveda and Bioelements.  There is nothing like a day at a spa to make a girl feel special.  The salon is carrying Aveda products (skin, hair & makeup) and Bumble & Bumble, just to name a few but visit the salon and see the variety of other products available.

If you are a teacher, the salon is offering a 15% discount with your school ID on all of Signature's salon & spa services and products (excludes my services).  To make an appointment for  hair, nail & pedicure, massage or skincare, call 410-549-1112.

My eyelash business, Eyes Love Them Lashes, is separate from Signature Salon services but I am located in their salon spa area.  To make an appointment with me for eyelash extensions, please call     410-608-9237.

                                      "Just A Note"

- I now have an adhesive that works very well on clients who have sensitivity to other adhesives.  I have tested it on my own lashes and had no negative reactions.  It is medical grade, free of fumes and approved by FDA.  I find the hold is also good.

- If you are interested in lash extensions, please tell me what you expect the end result to be after application.  If your lashes are curly, the lash extensions may not stay bonded to your natural lashes.  Lash extensions bond more securely to a more straight lash.  If most of your lashes are curly, I may not be able to give you as full a look as I can a client with straighter lashes.  If you have fine and few natural lashes I can make them fuller and longer, but I must use extensions that are the correct thickness and length for your natural lashes to avoid damaging your natural lashes.  As you can see by these pictures, fine lashes can be make to look longer and more dense.

              You Need to Know

Eyelash extensions can make your natural lashes longer, fuller and curled. The are available in lengths 8mm - 15mm and in thickness .10mm, .15mm, .20mm and .25mm.  Curl variations range from "J", "B", "C" and "D" with the "J" curl being the least curled and the "D" being the curliest.  Never use an eyelash curler on your extensions and PLEASE don't trim them if you think they are too long.  cutting off the tapered tips will make your lashes look like tree trunks since they are thicker at the base and taper to a thin tip  I offer lashes in black, dark brown, and tipped in sparkly colors.

If your natural lashes are full and medium to long in length, your lashes will be very lush with eyelash extensions.  Eyelash extensions should be 1/3 longer than your natural lashes but if your natural lashes are fine and short it is often best to not apply lashes that are too long or twisting of your lashes can occur or you may lose lashes too soon.  Keeping eyelash extensions close to your natural lash length will make your lashes appear full but without extreme length.  For clients with fine natural eyelashes I will use .15mm diameter for the majority of lashes I apply because it will be lighter on the natural lash and cause less stress to the lash.

You can expect your appointment to take about 2 hours when you are getting a Full Set applied and about 1 hours for a Fill.  I will cover your bottom lashes with a small cover designed specifically for the bottom lashes and then I will ask you to keep your eyes closed until I am finished the application.  Most of my clients fall asleep.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that you do not have ANY traces of mascara on your top lashes or it will prevent a proper bond due to the particles of mascara on your lashes.  It is OK to wear it on your bottom lashes.  In fact, wearing it on your bottom lashes it helpful for me.  When I am finished the application I will go through every one of your lashes to ensure that they are not stuck to each other and then I will blow them dry before you leave.

Since you shed your natural lashes every 60-90 days you can expect to lose about 1/3 of your lash extensions every 3-4 weeks.  I recommend returning every 2-4 weeks for a "Fill" to maintain a full appearance.  Most of my clients schedule a "Fill" for every 3 weeks.  Sometimes you will notice that you lose more lashes on one side than the other.  This can be true if you sleep on that side or it may just be natural for you to shed more on one eye than the other.  Playing with your lashes or picking at them will cause them to shed. Wearing eye makeup may have an affect on how long your eyelash extensions stay on.  This is because applying eye shadow and liner can get onto your extensions and if your eyelashes are not cleaned each night it can build up on the lashes and wear down the bond and you may lose your lashes sooner.  I am not telling you to not wear makeup, I'm suggesting that you be careful when applying it and keep your lashes clean.  You will no longer need to use mascara after your extensions are applied but if you do feel the need, please use a good quality mascara, preferably one that is water based and never a waterproof one.  Clear mascara can be used as often as you like.  Maybelline has a clear mascara on the market that works nicely.

Please do not be afraid to get your lashes wet after 12-24 hours of an eyelash extension application.  Not cleaning your lashes can lead to the eyelash condition, Blepharitis ("Bleph").  This is true whether you have eyelash extensions or not.  I have seen clients with this condition.  Symptoms include burning, flaking, crusting, tearing, irritation, itching, and redness in eyelid margins.  I have seen clients with a mix of the crusting and makeup so thick that their natural lashes are weakened and come out easily.  I recommend keeping your lashes clean with a non-oily makeup remover or you can make a solution of one part baby shampoo and 4 parts water and keep it in a foam pumper bottle (save one that you bought at the store).  I ask that you always come with very clean lashes for your lash appointments or there can be a problem with the extensions bonding properly to your natural lashes due to residue of mascara or other eye makeup that is left on your natural lashes.  Wet your lashes, pump some of the shampoo into the palm of your hand and with your thumb and index finger gently stroke your lashes from the base to the tip and then rinse them.  You can also consult with an eye doctor whenever you have any eye problems for a true diagnosis.

REMEMBER:

      +         =        LASHPOO
1 part shampoo           4 parts water

An allergy to the adhesive can happen at any time even if you have been wearing the extensions for years.  If you experience puffy red eyelids that may itch after an application (usually within the first 24 hours), you may have a sensitivity to the adhesive.  You can try using Visine Allergy drops or Benadryl for a day or two.  If your reaction is so severe that you cannot get relief, you may need to have your extensions removed with a remover specifically created for eyelash extensions.  Please DO NOT try to remove your extensions yourself.  You risk damaging your lashes.  There are several adhesives on the market and there may be one that you do not react to.

I get many phone calls from people who had "flares" inexpensively applied by nail salons that called them eyelash extensions and they were very unhappy with the weight and clumping and wanted me to remove them.  As I did the removal, I saw a lot of damage and had to get very creative to hide the damage for them.  Make sure that you are getting real eyelash extensions.  I have described the procedure, so if it only takes 30-45 minutes and costs under $100, it is not true eyelash extensions.  With proper application of true eyelash extensions, you should not even feel them on your eyelashes and the adhesive should never be clumpy.  They should look so natural that your family and friends will notice that your eyes look great but they won't know why.  People may ask you what kind of mascara are you using.  I research all the time and you should also when it comes to any process that affects your appearance.

I hope I have helped you with any questions you may have but if there is a question that is still unanswered, please contact me.  I would be happy to chat with you.  If I am with a client, you may need to leave a voice mail but i will call you back.
